Program Overview
The Health Assisting Program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions within the healthcare field as competent and skilled assistants. This comprehensive program provides students with foundational knowledge and hands-on experience, enabling them to pursue immediate employment in a variety of healthcare settings or continue their education in advanced healthcare programs.
Instruction includes a broad range of essential topics such as healthcare safety, effective communication, personal patient care, infection control, vital sign measurement, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clerical and administrative duties, pharmacology, phlebotomy, and end-of-life care. The curriculum is structured to develop both technical proficiency and professional behaviors required in modern healthcare environments.
Students who successfully complete all program requirements will be eligible to sit for the Patient Care Technician (PCT) certification examination upon graduation. Qualified students may also participate in experiential learning opportunities, including clinical placements, simulation laboratory activities, and job shadowing, contingent upon successful completion of coursework and maintaining satisfactory attendance.
The program places a strong emphasis on preparing knowledgeable, compassionate, and ethical healthcare professionals who are equipped to meet the needs of their communities and contribute positively to the healthcare workforce.
